The Black Girls with Purpose Workshop Series

June 20, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm

The Black Girls with Purpose workshop series outlines ways teen girls can pursue purposeful living through time management, goal setting, self-esteem and passion seeking. For many young women, teen years can be some of the most challenging they face – marked by uncertainty about the future and low self-esteem. That’s where Black Girls with Purpose comes in. Its goal is two-fold: first, to change young women’s perspectives of themselves so they can understand their lives have meaning and also to build community amongst teens so they can develop strong circles of accountability.

As a result of this workshop, participants will:

• Have a safe space to candidly discuss their dreams and aspirations as well as their fears and failures as a way to move past them
• Set short and long term goals to help establish their path to purpose and help them develop regular check-ins
• Gain a deeper understanding of how to use their passions and gifts to positively impact the world around them.
In short, the purpose of Black Girls with Purpose is not just to empower and uplift young women of color but to change the perspectives they hold of themselves and the world around them. Though geared towards young black women, the content is not specific to race or gender and can benefit all who apply it.
