The king inquired, “What honor and special recognition have been given to Mordecai for this act? The king’s personal attendants replied, “Nothing has been done for him.”

Esther 6:3-4

In this season of COVID19 many people are being introduced to parts of themselves that they did not know existed. Inner fears are being exposed. Insecurities we once could sweep under the rug are being brought to the surface. This tends to happen when we’re operating at a slower pace because when your life is filled with constant activity, it’s easy to overlook parts of yourself that have simply stopped growing.  A fear I have had to face in this season is the fear of being overlooked or forgotten especially because I was promised that 2020 would be the year of harvest and that’s what I’ve chosen to believe.

About a week before the world completely changed I’d been in conversations with a corporation about a potential partnership that would have been an amazing and immense addition to Black Girls with Purpose.

Just this week I battled with God wondering if you knew what was going to happen next, why even grace me with the opportunity to have the conversation?

If I was just going to go back into hiding, into this place where no one sees me, why even allow me to get my hopes up? You knew they would forget about me.

But as I prayed about it this morning God brought today’s focus scripture to mind and tears came to my eyes as I started to see the truth found in Proverbs 21:11 and how it applies to me – if the king’s heart is truly water in the Lord’s hand and He guides it wherever He wishes then at the proper time God will bring our work back to people’s remembrance.

Prior to this passage of scripture, Mordecai saved the king’s life and nothing was done for him. One might assume he may have felt undervalued, overlooked or unappreciated. But, at the proper time, God brought Mordecai’s actions before the king and this shows me that whenever God chooses to move on your behalf, nothing can prevent others from seeing His glory. What was overlooked in one season can be rewarded in the next, so long as you keep the faith. What seemed insignificant in one season will be raised up to a higher status, so long as you don’t give up hope in Jesus’ name.

It doesn’t matter how long it’s been. God is watching and waiting to move on behalf of His children. But it’s important for us to recognize the exaltation is not coming for our own glory or fame, but it’s coming so we can introduce other people to Jesus so that their lives will never be the same.

This is an opportunity for us to share our hope with those in need. For us to speak truth over ourselves “My God has not forgotten about me!” He is working all things together for our good and when that day comes and we’re able to see behind the curtain of what he’s been doing this entire time, the great reveal will be worth it. We won’t be able to help but shout the praises of our Lord. Great is His faithfulness!

If you’re feeling forgotten in this season, please remember God’s word says your name is written on the palm of His hands. He cannot forget about you and He will be faithful to fulfill that which He promised
