Over the past few weeks, I have been preparing for the launch of my first workshop series for Black Girls with Purpose. I can’t tell you when the idea first came to me, I just remember when I finished writing The Black Girl’s Guide to Living on Purpose, I promised God that I would not let this be a one-off project. I wanted to expand it as far as He would let me and it appeared that the natural progression from the book would be events and programming.

I’ve been taking part in a lot of online training for entrepreneurs and business owners and something one of the business coaches, Courtney Sanders, shared with me is that you have to learn to sell what other people want, not just what you want to sell. This little nugget of wisdom was a reality check for me. As I knew I was passionate about helping young girls and women live out their purpose but, what if they didn’t want to hear from me?

That was until this week, when, almost in response to my concern, God had multiple women reach out to me via email or phone and they were discussing the workshop series. Getting information on what they needed to do to make sure they didn’t miss it. One woman is even coming from another state to attend! And in that moment, I realized what I sometimes seem to forget – God gave me the vision for Black Girls with Purpose which means He will always give the provision to accomplish what He has me to accomplish.

Working on the materials and promotional graphics for this workshop series was an act of faith. It was taking the first step, without seeing the whole staircase but the call from these women who are interested in what it is I have to say, has acted as a push to keep on going and to keep sharing with them what God has shared with me.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
